Jayvon Thomas, 20, and Lavar Hunter, 19, have been arraigned for first-degree felony murder while armed for their alleged roles in the November murder of 24-year-old Anwar “The Silent Assassin” Wingate last year.

On Nov. 19, 2023, investigators say that Wingate was shot in the neck after trying to fight off the two men, who were able to get the jump on him by catching him off guard in a parking garage in the 21000 block of 8th Street NW.

Thomas and Hunter were arrested on Wednesday and pleaded not guilty in federal court on Thursday afternoon. They are being held without bond pending their next hearing in early February.
